Trent Nakamura is a Director & Producer based in Los Angeles, California. He most recently completed Film Independent’s Project Involve as a Producer fellow and produced THE LAYOVER. He is currently working with Outfest as the Ops Project Coordinator and OCA Greater-Houston as the HAAPIFEST Project Development Manager & Programming Coordinator.
In 2016, Trent premiered his short film IT’S A BOY at Outfest Los Angeles through Outset: The Young Filmmakers Program. IT’S A BOY went on to win the Audience Award at the OUT HERE NOW: Kansas City LGBT Film Festival and was later acquired by ShortsTV. Since then he’s created content for various companies including the YMCA, Fineman Suarez Real Estate, and PrEP. He also directed two episodes of the web series, BAE’S WELCOME.
Trent graduated from Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television with a double major in Film and Television Production & Recording Arts. Trent has a passion for both filmmaking and film education. He has worked with numerous non-profit film related organizations including Outfest, Young Storytellers, AFI FEST, the International Documentary Association, the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, and Visual Communications. Trent wants to create a more diverse industry by empowering Asian American and LGBTQ+ artists to find their voice.
