Trent Nakamura is a recent graduate of Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television with a double major in Film and Television Production & Recording Arts. Trent has a passion for both filmmaking and film education. He has worked with numerous non-profit film related organizations including Outfest, Young Storytellers, AFI FEST, the International Documentary Association, and Visual Communications.
Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, he grew up acting in both theater arts and film. As an actor, he appeared in spots for Noevir, Starwood Hotels, and Oceanic Cable (2003 Mea No`eau Award recipient for Acting). Trent found his passion for movies after taking multiple classes at `Iolani School in both narrative and documentary filmmaking.
In 2016, he premiered his short film IT’S A BOY at Outfest Los Angeles. Since then he’s created content for various companies and directed two episodes of the web series, BAE’S WELCOME. He is currently writing his first narrative feature and coordinating travel for the Getting Real 2018 conference with the International Documentary Association. Trent wants to create a more diverse industry by empowering Asian American artists and other minorities to find their voice.
